Juhu in Mumbai (surprising, right)
How many times have you heard about Juhu beach in Mumbai? How many times have you seen the beach on TV? Many times, we guess. But did you know Juhu is a bioluminescent beach? Known for its amazing shade of blue colour, this place appears unworldly and mystical just like you would see in Hollywood movies. But is it real? Yes. Bioluminescent marine bacteria, also known as phytoplankton are responsible for glowing up the water in the ocean (thank you phytoplankton). How cool is that! Now, you must be wondering who discovered this phenomenon? Parvish Pandya, the assistant professor and vice-principal at Bhavan’s College in Mumbai discovered it for the first time at Juhu. It is since then that this beach is visited by tourists every year to witness this special sight close to the shore. If you are lucky, you can spot this delightful sight at a distance of half a km from the coastline. What’s more? You can walk by the beach along with your beloved while enjoying the beauty of this beach. Did you know that occurrences like such happen when microbes wash ashore due to change in tides and currents? This means that only if you are fortunate, will you be able to witness this miracle under the dark sky. Don’t worry, it is not as rare as it might sound. So, cross your fingers and visit the beach!
