1. Speakeasies
Speakeasies are secret bars and/or nightclubs. The term comes from the times of Prohibition Era in the US and today, there are speakeasies all over the world. Some may be disguised as workplaces during the day, some hide behind a "restroom" door of a cafe, some have a laundromat as the face of it, but all of them are equally fun and make you feel a sense of thrill. There are a whole bunch of Goa speakeasy bars that you can check out but the two we recommend are -
- Joseph's Bar, Fontainhas
This hidden speakeasy in Goa is a tiny space where you'll be greeted with locals and travellers alike. Although it may not fit in the definition of a speakeasy, it definitely is one of the secret bars in Goa that has an old-world charm. It has an unmarked entrance that gives it that exclusive vibe and the menu features some of the best local feni-based cocktails that you will ever taste.
- Escobar, Panaji
Escobar is one of the best speakeasies in Goa and is known for its expertly crafted cocktails menu. This hidden gem is tucked away and the only way you can find your way here is if you ask the locals for direction. It's quaint and has the perfect ambience for an evening of craft cocktails and meaningful conversations.
