The COVID-19 outbreak made a great impact on travelling for the last few months. Due to the global pandemic, there were multiple guidelines issued, borders sealed, flights unoperational and people were unable to travel. Now given that there’s relaxation in terms of travelling. However, there are still tons of risks associated with this, so we need to be more cautious during this period and follow all the required travel safety tips during emergency travel.

Here's a ready reckoner that needs to be kept in mind before essential travel:

Medical history of the passenger

Passengers will have to submit the entire medical history along with other documents before booking their tickets. As it has been noticed that people with a few health conditions like hypertension, diabetes, cancer, or any respiratory disease are more likely to get affected by the virus. Once the medical history is checked and if it doesn’t have all these symptoms then the passenger will be allowed to travel.

Age and other factors

The COVID-19 virus infects people of all ages. However, evidence to date suggests that two groups of people are at a higher risk of getting severe COVID-19 disease. These are older people; and those with underlying medical conditions. WHO emphasizes that all must protect themselves from COVID-19 in order to protect others.

The Destination you are traveling to

The COVID-19 outbreak spread globally and it started from the foreign countries in the first place. Although, right now the government has only allowed domestic flights, but later when the international flights will be available one cannot visit a specific number of countries where the virus took a severe shape. Some of the countries like Italy, Iran, South Korea are the places where the virus made a serious impact, even after everything gets normal these countries should be avoided.

Safety measures- Mask, Gloves, and Sanitizer

The mask, hand sanitizer, gloves, face shield and other PPE gear have become such integral parts of our life these days. Being the most important travel essentials, one needs to carry all of these things in order to ensure our own safety and protection from the COVID19 / Coronavirus while travelling. Social distancing needs to be followed very strictly. These things will ensure you maintain personal hygiene and prevent contact with disease-causing respiratory droplets.

Try to wash your hands frequently in order to prevent the spread of the virus. You can also carry wet wipes and avoid touching your face all the time. Basic hygiene was always a factor in terms of keeping yourself away from all sorts of diseases. And now, the virus made us more cautious and forced us to follow these rules.

Be Mindful of what you touch and minimise human contact

This rings true for using devices, touching surfaces of common usage- Elevators, ATM Screen and keypad, common areas at public places etc
