How to reach Agra (Transportation)

By Air

The closest airport to Agra is the Delhi airport. In fact, there are dedicated trains stopping at Agra from significant cities with close to 20 trains coming from Delhi. All the trains usually stop at Agra Cantt and Agra Fort Station.

From Delhi aside from the usual trains, a special Taj Mahal express also departs and is promoted explicitly for tourism. This express train stops at Raja Ki Mandi station. Usually, the station is rather simple and quiet with hardly any bustling. However, come Taj Mahal express and the station springs to life with tourists making their way out to see the monument. There's a luxury train arriving from Rajasthan which has a stop at Agra. Going by the name Palace on Wheels, the train stops at Agra as part of its 8-day itinerary to cover fancy destinations in Rajasthan and Agra.

The good thing about Agra is you will find organized tours at the station itself. It is essential to make your bookings in advance if you are travelling during peak season. Travellers from Delhi can complete their Agra trip within a day. There are provisions of tours that begin from the capital so you can head out early in the morning and return by sunset. Since many domestic routes are connecting Agra to metro cities, travelling here is extremely relaxed.

By Road

Travellers picking bus as their mode of transport should get down either at Idgah Bus Stand or ISBT. The two stops mentioned are 8 km and 12 km away from the Taj Mahal, respectively. Buses are considered to be ideal options as the travel time is not tremendous. You'll spend close to 5 hours on the bus before reaching Agra.

If you're travelling from Delhi by private vehicle, you should take up the Yamuna Expressway as it connects the capital to Agra. Winter is the perfect season for you to visit Nashik. It's pleasant and suitable for sightseeing. The winters start from October and last till March. The City experiences monsoon from June to September. While the weather is quite pleasant during monsoon but it's not the best time to travel. You can opt for a monsoon trek to one of the hills around the City, but you will have to be cautious since hilly areas can get a little slippery. April through May are the hottest months in the City. Food and Restaurants in Nashik

Nashik is famous for the plethora of Maharashtrian food that it has to offer. Thalipeeth, Maharashtrian thali, misal pav, sabudana vada, vada pav, are some of the favourite dishes that you must try when you are here. While you might easily get these in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, too, Nashik adds its charm to the food, and you'll relish every bite of it. Heramb is a favourite restaurant when it comes to authentic Maharashtrian food. Have the thalipeeth or modaks at this restaurant whenever you visit it.

Have misal pav at Ambika Misal. You can either make your misal spicier or request for a less spicy misal while you are here. Misal is a prevalent dish, and you can't leave the City without trying one out here. How to reach Nashik (Transportation)

By Air

Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport Mumbai is the nearest airport to Nashik. The flight connectivity from Mumbai is pretty good through all domestic routes and international routes. After landing in Mumbai, you'll have to take a taxi or hire a car or take the t rain to Nashik. You'll get pretty good flight deals online and if you're lucky, cheap flight tickets, too. Book flight tickets from any metropolitan or small city to Mumbai, the frequency is quite good. Since there are no direct flights to Nashik, especially international ones, Mumbai is the best pitstop. The Indian Armed Forces is currently using the Nashik airport for tests and trials. It is also used as a Customs airport.

By Rail

Nashik has its railway station and the frequency of trains that run to and from Mumbai are quite high. Pick a favourable time and your budget and book a train. You'll also get buses and rickshaws outside Nashik station that will drop you to your hotel rooms.

By Road

Plan a road trip from Mumbai, Pune, Shirdi or Aurangabad to Nashik, and it might not be that bad an idea. If you are not taking out your vehicle, you can hire one or take a bus that starts from these cities. The frequency is quite good, and the experience won't be too gruelling if you are travelling by road. However, if you want extra comfort, we would suggest hiring a car or taking the train.
