The new terminal that they plan to construct would be sprawled across 40,000 square metres to spruce up the city's common airport terminal area. They plan to complete the construction of the new terminal in about 18 to 24 months as soon as the Kerala government hands over the portion of land to the airport authorities. The new terminal is said to be a replica of the existing terminal 2.
