Air India was the first Indian airline that went by the name Tata Airways when it was launched. Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata launched it in 1932 in Karachi. The Madurai Airport is touted to be a customs airport that majorly serves the city and its neighbouring districts in Tamil Nadu.
