Two years from the genesis, the consortium also extended its cooperation to accommodate European and domestic operations. Eventually, in 1951, the airlines merged under the consortium to create the Scandinavian Airlines System. SAS is also known to be an icon of Swedish-Norwegian-Danish cooperation.
